Summer lessons: Please see the summer calendar on the website www.aimeeviolin.com/welcome.html or http://crescendosuzuki.appointy.com.
SUMMER STUDY
I urge all students to continue lessons over the summer when you are in town. Sign up for enough lessons to at least maintain your skill level over the summer. Too much time away from the instrument causes loss of muscle memory and frustration. I recommend at least four lessons over the summer with no longer than three weeks between lessons. First-year students should take at least six lessons over the summer with no more than two weeks between lessons.
SCHEDULING
In the summer, lessons that have been previously agreed upon are considered a commitment. If you have signed up for a lesson time, you have reserved that time. If a conflict arises, I am willing to reschedule within the week if an alternate time is available and enough notice is given. No refunds will be given for cancelled summer lessons.
You can sign up for summer lessons online. Go to http://crescendosuzuki.appointy.com or www.aimeeviolin.com/welcome.html (click on “summer schedule”) and schedule your lessons. Please wait for confirmation to avoid double-booking. You should receive an automatic email reminder the day before your lesson. If you do not receive email confirmations, please let me know. You may also sign up for text message reminders the day of a lesson.
Rescheduling and Adding Lessons: I require 24 hours notice for rescheduling lessons. If 24 hours notice is not given, the lesson cannot be rescheduled and must still be paid for unless I am able to fill the time with another lesson. If you wish to add a lesson, you can sign up online or contact me 24 hours or more in advance and I will let you know of available times.
Lesson fees for the summer are: $35 for half-hour lessons, $45 for 45- minute lessons, and $60 for hour lessons. Young Sibling (beginner) lessons, Youngest Beginner classes, and chamber music coachings are also available. Lessons must be paid for in advance (easiest way is usually one lesson ahead). All students must be scheduled separately.
If I must cancel a lesson, you will not be responsible for payment of that lesson. If you have paid in advance, you will receive a credit towards either another summer lesson or your fall payment.
Lessons scheduled with guest teachers must be paid in advance and are non-refundable unless the time can be filled with a student from the waiting list.
SUMMER CAMPS & INSTITUTES
I highly recommend summer Suzuki Institutes sponsored by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. These week-long music camps are huge motivators and GREAT FUN! Participants get to play with their peers, meet new friends, hear a huge ensemble sound (often over 100 violins on one stage for the final concert), and work with world-renowned clinicians. Parents and students alike can reap lots of inspiration from these institutes. Several near-by institutes and workshops exist, including the New Jersey Suzuki Workshop, July 6-8. Other local workshops, like the Brookside Orchestra, are wonderful opportunities to enhance your summer music experiences. More information can be found in the studio, at www.suzukiassociation.org, https://sites.google.com/site/njsuzukiworkshop/, or contact me for more information.
